You likely have a lot of questions—about what to expect, how the process works, and what the results will mean for you or your family. That’s why we’ve put together this FAQ page, to provide clarity and address some of the most common concerns. We’re here to guide you every step of the way and ensure you feel supported and informed throughout this journey.

How do I know if I or my child needs an assessment?

Assessments help identify strengths, challenges, and underlying factors that may be affecting learning, behavior, or mental health. They provide clarity and actionable recommendations to support personal growth, school success, or workplace performance.

You may consider an assessment if you or your child are: (1) struggling academically or with attention and focus; (2) experiencing emotional challenges, such as anxiety or depression; (3) seeking a diagnosis for learning differences, ADHD, and/or mood-related concerns; (4) needing accommodations at school or work; (5) unsure about the root cause of challenges and looking for answers.

What kinds of assessments do you offer?

We offer a range of assessments, including:

  • Psychoeducational assessments (e.g., learning disabilities, ADHD, giftedness)

  • Psychological assessments (e.g., anxiety, depression, personality)

  • Neuropsychological screenings (e.g., memory, executive functioning)

  • Career and vocational assessments

How long is the assessment process?

The process typically takes 4-6 weeks from the initial consultation to the feedback session. This includes assessment sessions, scoring, report writing, and discussing the results with you. Timelines can vary based on individual client needs and availability.

What takes place during the assessment process? What can I expect?

The process is as follows:

  1. Initial Consultation – Discuss concerns, goals, and background information.

  2. Clinical Interview & Testing Sessions – Complete interviews and standardized tests in a comfortable setting. The number of testing sessions required can vary between 1 to 3 sessions depending on the requirements of the assessments.

  3. Comprehensive Report – Receive a detailed report with findings, diagnoses (if applicable), and personalized recommendations.

  4. Feedback Session – Review the results together and discuss actionable next steps.

Are the assessment results confidential?

Yes, all assessment results are strictly confidential. We will only share information with your consent, unless required by law (e.g., in cases of imminent harm or abuse).

Will the results be accepted by schools, employers, or other organizations?

Our assessments are conducted by licensed psychologists and adhere to professional standards, making them suitable for school accommodations, workplace adjustments, or treatment planning. We are happy to provide documentation or collaborate with relevant professionals as needed to ensure that we meet their requirements.

How do I prepare for an assessment?

We’ll guide you through the preparation process during the initial consultation. Generally, it’s helpful to:

  • Gather any relevant documents (e.g., previous evaluations, school records).

  • Ensure you or your child are well-rested on testing days.

  • Share any specific concerns or goals you’d like us to address.

How do you ensure cultural sensitivity during assessments?

We prioritize cultural competence by selecting tools and methods that are appropriate for diverse populations. We also take the time to understand your unique cultural background, identity, and experiences to provide recommendations that align with your unique life context.

How much does an assessment cost?

Costs vary depending on the type of assessment and the scope of the evaluation. During the initial consultation, we’ll provide a clear outline of fees and payment options.

Do you accept insurance?

We are an out-of-network provider. While we do not bill insurance directly, we can provide a detailed receipt (superbill) for you to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. Please check with your insurance provider to confirm coverage for psychological assessments.

Do you offer virtual assessments?

Some components of the assessment process, such as interviews and consultations, can be conducted virtually. However, most testing requires in-person administration to ensure accuracy and reliability. We have two office locations, one in North Baltimore and the other in Baltimore City.

Can I use the results to apply for school or workplace accommodations?

Our assessments are designed to provide the documentation needed for accommodations such as 504 Plans, IEPs, or workplace adjustments. We are also available to collaborate with schools or employers to ensure your needs are met.

What ages do you work with?

We work with clients across the lifespan, including children (ages 6+), adolescents, college students, and adults.
